Insights

The history of the museums began when the people of Rome received, as a donation from Pope Sixtus IV, one of the most ancient public collections of art works, comprising a large number of classic sculptures of great worth. During the centuries the collections of the museums were enriched by important contributors, such as Cardinal Alessandro Albani, thus reflecting the evolution of collectors trends as time went on. The collections occupy both Palazzo dei Conservatori and Palazzo Nuovo.
